Year 5 Weekly Blog – Week 3

We have had a fantastic week in Year 5 and the children have worked incredibly hard across all subjects.

In Maths, we have been learning how to solve problems using long division, and the children were absolutely brilliant. They showed great focus, resilience and confidence when tackling some tricky calculations.

In English, we have been finishing our persuasive letter unit. The children wrote their own persuasive letters on a topic of their choice. Some of the popular topics included Can we have a pet in school?, Can we go home for lunch? and Could school finish at 1:00 instead of 3:15? The children came up with some very convincing arguments and used persuasive language really well.

In Science, we learned about the different planets and explored our solar system. The children enjoyed discovering interesting facts about the planets and their positions.

In History, we have been learning about democracy and where it originated, focusing on Ancient Greece. The children showed great curiosity and asked thoughtful questions.

In PE, we explored symmetrical and asymmetrical positions, working on balance, control and teamwork.

We have enjoyed this week immensely and are very proud of the children’s effort and enthusiasm. We cannot wait for Week 4 of this half term to begin on Monday!

She is supported in upper key stage two by the team, including Miss Vickers, Mrs Cracknell, and Ms Brigden. Mrs Klust  continues to support learners with SEND also.

P.E. is on Mondays - please can children come to school in their P.E. kit. 

 Children should bring their reading records into school every day and be regularly reading at home.
