Key Stage Two - Years 3, 4, 5 & 6.
Welcome to Key Stage Two.
year 3 teacher - Mr Klein
year 4 teacher - Miss Cordner
year 5 teachers - Mrs Levy and Mrs Lewis
year 6 teachers - Miss Maggs and Mrs Oustayiannis.
By the time our children have reached key stage two, they are already developing into well rounded citizens. The attributes of the Shephalbury L.E.A.R.N.E.R. will be very familiar to them, and they will have considerable opportunities to develop these.
The curriculum is designed to ensure that they have the tools to equip them for the next stages of learning. In addition, we ensure that children have rich opportunities to extend their learning beyond the national curriculum.
These might include:
-residential trips
-day visits and visitors
-sporting competitions and tournaments
-clubs
-shows
-eco council
-mental health first aiders
-school parliament
-play helpers
-house group ambassadors
At the end of year four, in May, children take the governments multiplication check. To support children to achieve this, we ensure the curriculum involves children in regular fluency opportunities so that they can practise their skills. They also take this home to practise, so that you can know where your child is at.
In year six, our children showcase as role models for the rest of the school. They have the opportunity to apply for special jobs and can also represent their house teams as captains.
In year six, some children walk to school and home by themselves. This is only with the written permission from home.
At the end of year six, our children are prepared for their next phase in so many positive ways, and take the attributes of the Shephalbury L.E.A.R.N.E.R. with them.
Year six children undertake the SATs in May. These are formal assessments set by the government for every child. Throughout your child's time with us, we will keep you regularly informed about your child's academic progress, as well as their achievements throughout the broader curriculum.
Partnership with parents and carers is vital for us at Shephalbury Park Primary. We welcome you to talk to us at drop offs and pick ups, or you can contact us by phone or email too. No query is too small, and often helps us to help your child.
