Happy December Everyone!
This week we have continued our learning about Explanation Texts in English. We have planned some exciting inventions we can't wait to share with you! We've also been looking at Multiplication and Division in maths, specifically the 3, 6 and 9 times tables.
In other news, we all spotted Shephalbury's elusive white and black squirrels outside yesterday! As I promised the class, I took pictures on the Class Ipad and I'm uploading them so everyone can see (as it was a bit of a squash trying to look out of the windows!). Hopefully next time they'll come a bit closer and we can get some better pictures!

Happy Friday Everyone!
We unfortunately didn't have enough time to stick our spellings in this week with the excitement of the House Event in the morning and reading with reception children in the afternoon. We will stick them in on Tuesday, but here they are incase you wanted to start practicing at the weekend.
I have also been on TTRS this week checking out everyone's times tables work and I'm really impressed with how much we've all been practicing! Keep it up everyone!

Good Evening,
All of our poems were so impressive it was impossible to choose just a few to display, so we've decided to put them ALL up in the classroom! Here's just a few examples to share with you ...

Monday 24th November 2025
Last Friday, we visited the Early Years and read a story with our young reading buddies! We all had such a great time and every single one of us happily joined in reading with some younger children. We even had a group of children reading stories in Romanian!
Check out some of the pictures we took:

Good Morning Everyone,
Over the last two weeks in English we have been looking at Poetry. We wrote our own riddles and read them to each other to see if we could guess what was being described:

This week, we have focused on concrete poems which take the shape of what they are describing. Tomorrow we will be writing our final poems up either in our best handwriting or using a computer. We can't wait to share them with you!
Have a great day!
Miss Manzie

Good Morning,
Yesterday in our science lesson we were building our very own electrical circuits! We then used our knowledge to problem solve why the bulb might not light in different scenarios. Check out some of our working circuits below ….

We hope you have a great day!

I also wanted to show some of the amazing homework I have seen this week. I am so impressed and can't wait to see more as it comes in! We are going to find a space in our classroom to show these off ... well done!

I wanted to thank everyone in Year 4 for a fantastic first week. You've all been fantastic and I hope you have a lovely weekend!

This week our children were learning how to interview. A bit of hot seating helped us really get into role for this task.

We have been learning about biomes in topic this week and have had some super presentations from this learning, including a couple for head teacher awards. Biomes are large geographical areas which are characterised mainly by the types of plants and animals that inhabit it.

WRE has continued with Judaism as the main religion we are comparing with our previous learning on Christianity and Sikhism. We have learned about shabbat and also about the synagogue.

This week they are all homophones. These are words that look different but sound the same.
Can you make up a sentence with them in the right way?

This week, some further work about sound, and how the ear hears. Our learners have labelled the ear and learned about the role each part plays.

Well done Isabelle for earning your HT award this week.
We are moving on to our next book, and this will be The Man Who Bought A Mountain, which we have had on our book corner display.

Also on our displays is this week's learning in English. We have put together two ideas to make one sentence with a connecting word. Our learners are using the mnemonic FANBOYS to help them remember the different words they can use to join up their ideas. This is so easy to practise at home. Perhaps you can think of things you would like to do. For example "Get dressed, but first brush your teeth."

Maths has been all about rounding. We have learned when we should round a number up, and when we should round a number down. This is an essential skill, particularly when thinking about everyday activities such as budgeting with money. We end the week with counting backwards through the zero mark. Using negative numbers is upon us all soon, as we come closer to Winter.

Our topic take us through climate zones this week. Looking at the world, our learners are finding the different climate zones - tropical, polar, arid/desert and temperate.

25.09.25
This week we have been learning about sound, and how sound waves are received by the ear. We have also moved on our Geography to start looking at climate. Our learners used their ICT learning to create presentations about the weather and climate.
Thankyou for your patience with the spellings. Please ensure your child keeps their homework book in their bags so that we can stick in their spellings. Tracks spellings come home for practice but are carried out in interventions.

Swimming News
We have had some questions about swimming, and this will happen in the summer term.
The whole school should soon receive an overview of all the trips for each year group, as this was part of the parent forum feedback last year.
PE DAYS are MONDAYS
SPELLINGS are tested on FRIDAYS
For the first two weeks, our spellings focus on the AU spelling pattern. Below, you will see an example. The table shows the overview for the term. Our learners have taken home a practice sheet so that they can trace then copy each spelling to learn it.
