Christmas at St. Peter's
To celebrate Christmas, we visited St. Peter's Church in our bubbles to take part in a special service led by Rev. Kate.
As part of our Victorian topic, we looked at the work of Sarah Bland, who was famous in the Victorian era for her embroidery. After practising some embroidery stitches, we had a go at creating our own Victorian embroidery designs. It was trickier than we thought it would be!
For Black History Month, we celebrated the contributions Pablo Fanque, the first black British circus owner made to our country. As part of this work, we tried circus skills in P.E. It wasn't as easy as it looked!
For the Design and Technology element of our Creative Curriculum Topic about the Victorians, we created railway signals. In the Victorian era, Isambard Kingdom Brunel was influential in the development of the railways. As more and more trains travelled around the country, signals were needed to control them.
