Welcome to Year 5!
Welcome back to Year 5!
Another term has passed us by and we are entering our final term of Year 5. We have some lovely things to look forward to and so this will be an excellent final term together.
As ever, we ask that you are reading at least three times a week and recording this in reading records, practicing times tables in our fabulous app Times Table Rock Stars and that you learn your spellings each week. Our PE sessions will continue to be on Wednesday afternoon and on Thursday mornings. The Thursday session will be swimming for those who have been notified. The rest of Year 5 will join those in Year 6 who are not swimming for PE with me! Please make sure a PE kit is in school for both Wednesday and Thursday as a backup for any unforeseen circumstances!
As ever, I am available if you require a discussion about your child’s learning. Please book a time with me at the start or end of the day. Reports will be out in the next half term as well.
We shall continue our learning of English with narrative, poetry and discussion and persuasion texts. We will also move onto our third set of Power Maths books as we continue our journey to Maths Mastery. Our topic for the term will be Music from the Movies, where we will be focusing on design technology and, unsurprisingly, music! Needless to say, we are VERY excited as we will be attending the theatre with Year 6 in London to watch Matilda. This will be fabulous, and we also have a wonderful celebration planned for the end of the topic too!
Of course we will also be looking at RE and Computing with Mrs Grizzell. Our science modules will be looking at growing up and growing old. This will be followed by the circle of life.
As ever we are also looking forward to Sport's Day and the many other exciting activities that make up the final term at Shephalbury Park.
Here is to another exciting term of learning.
