Welcome to Reception!
Welcome back to the summer term in Reception!
Mrs Nolan and Mrs Levy will be teaching you this year with Mrs Lee and Mrs Bond supporting. PE will continue to be taught on Tuesdays, so please make sure that full PE kit is in school. We will send home PE kit at the end of each half term. Please also ensure that your child brings in a water bottle every week. Water bottles are sent home on a Friday. Half termly, we will be holding 'stay and play' sessions for parents and carers to experience our learning first-hand.
For the first half of the Summer term, we will be learning about mini-beasts:
-Identification and classification
- Observing and recording
- Writing our own version of the popular story The Very Hungry Caterpillar
In maths we will be focussing on problem solving including doubling and halving
In PE we will focus on movement and dance
In Phonics we will be consolidating our knowledge of phase 3 letters and sounds and introducing phase 4 words. We will learn how to read and write adjacent consonants and apply them in our writing.
We will all be practising how to write sentences.
For the second half of the Summer term, we will be learning about how to keep ourselves healthy, different forms of transport:
-Transport by land
-Transport by water
-Transport by air
In Maths, we will be consolidating our knowledge of numbers to 20 and beyond and learning about money.
In phonics, we will continue working on phase 4 of letters and sounds. We will working hard to extend our sentence writing and read and spell the phase 3 and 4 tricky words correctly
In PE we will be practising the skills we will need for sports day.
During this half term we will also spend time preparing the children for their transition into Year 1.
